Florida A&M at Utah
When: 8:00 PM ET, Monday, December 17, 2018
Where: Jon M. Huntsman Center, Salt Lake City, Utah

After falling below .500 for the first time this season, Utah looks to even its non-conference record Monday against visiting Florida A&M. The Utes’ offensive woes continued in Saturday’s 88-61 loss to Kentucky, which forced 18 turnovers and closed the game on a 31-14 run.

Freshman guard Both Gach scored a career-high 22 points while junior center Jayce Johnson added 11 against a ranked Kentucky team that shot 58.6 percent from the field. “Ultimately, we've just got to be better and we've got to keep getting better if we want to compete and win games like that,” Utes senior guard Sedrick Barefield told reporters. “I feel like we've got the talent, but we're just not putting it together right now.” Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak relies heavily on Barefield and sophomore forward Donnie Tillman for the bulk of the team’s scoring, but the duo combined for seven points on 2-of-13 shooting against Kentucky. The two look to bounce back against a Florida A&M team that was picked to finish seventh in the 12-team Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, Pac-12 Network

ABOUT FLORIDA A&M (3-8): Senior guard Justin Ravenel is averaging a team-high 13.7 points while shooting 47.2 percent from 3-point range to lead the Rattlers, who have lost eight of their last nine games. Junior guard Rod Melton Jr. had nine points in last Sunday’s 73-40 loss to Georgia Tech, which forced 25 turnovers and held the Rattlers to 34.8 percent shooting - including 2-of-11 from beyond the arc. One bright spot was the play of reserves Bryce Moragne and Kamron Reaves, who combined for 13 points, six rebounds and five steals.

ABOUT UTAH (4-5): The Utes are tied for last in the Pac-12 in scoring entering Sunday at 71.3 points per game and need more consistent production from Barefield and Tillman, who have struggled in back-to-back losses to BYU and Kentucky. Gach is averaging 9.9 points on 54.5 percent shooting for the Utes, who close out non-conference play with home games against Northern Arizona and Nevada. Krystkowiak has been encouraged by the play of freshman forward Riley Battin, who has started the past three games and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds against Kentucky.

1. Utah is 3-0 at home and has won six straight at the Huntsman Center dating back to last season.

2. Florida A&M is beginning a six-game road swing that includes games at Oregon and Memphis.

3. Utah is shooting 71.3 percent from the foul line compared to 62.1 percent for Florida A&M.
